The Communities In Bloom judges have arrived in southwestern Manitoba.

Berta Briggs and Tina Liu arrived in Boissevain on Wednesday, just in time to take in the RCMP Musical Ride.

The pair started their evaluation of Boissevain on Thursday.

Berta talked about what they look for when judging a community.

“We're looking to see the entire community from almost the landscape point of view,” she said. “What's being done in green infrastructure, but under that we look at tidiness, and we look at environmental preservation and promotion. We look at heritage preservation and then getting more into the landscape and the urban forestry, overall landscaping and floral.”

The two judges will head to the International Peace Garden on Saturday.

Another pair of judges, Gaetan Duchenes and Evelyn Alemanni, will be judging Killarney on Friday and Saturday.
