Residents of Western Manitoba can expect the cold weather to stick around for several more days.

A frigid Arctic air mass entrenched across Manitoba is producing overnight low temperatures into the minus thirties and daytime highs in the minus twenties. These unseasonably cold temperatures couple with a moderate west wind to give extreme wind chills at times.

Extreme wind chill values of minus 38 to minus 44 are fairly widespread across southern Manitoba early this morning. Winds are light over eastern Manitoba thus wind chill values are not as extreme in those areas, so the warning has been ended for areas closer to the Ontario border. Extreme wind chill values will moderate late this morning as temperatures slowly climb. Cloud and some light snow is expected tonight and Thursday so wind chill values will not be as extreme for Thursday.

However another push of frigid Arctic air is poised to sweep into southern Manitoba by Friday and last through the weekend with extreme wind chill values likely again.
