Canadian Mennonite University will hand out its 2015 Blazer Alumni Awards Saturday during the opening reception of the its Fall Festival.

Recipients are Larry Plenert - an Olympian turned lawyer, Cheryl Woelk - an English language educator, Gerry Dyck - a businessman with a passion for international development and Arno and Lena Fast - a couple that's ministered for more than 45 years in Winnipeg's North End.

President Cheryl Pauls says the awards are an honouring of people whose life story calls out the CMU mission going forward.

She offers her thoughts on how this variety of recipients reflects how the University has equipped students over the years.

Pauls goes on to suggest why it's important to recognize these individuals each year.

You can be part of the awards ceremony Saturday at Marpeck Commons beginning at 7 p.m.
