The Mayor of Killarney-Turtle Mountain would like the Province of Manitoba to do more than just reduce the size of RHA boards.

Rick Pauls feels the boards need to have more power and better representation. “These board members don't seem to have much power to make any decisions.”

The province is reducing rural baords from 15 members down to 12 this fall, a move aimed at making the boards more efficient.

“I'd like to see each facility in the region with a voice at the table. We seem to be getting fewer and fewer people around the table and that makes it harder for our voices to be heard” said Pauls.

Health is something Pauls notes is important to everyone in the region but when it comes to the RHA board he doesn't think the members have a strong enough presence.

“I guarantee you if I walk up to people on the street and ask them to name two members of the RHA board they can't do it.”
