Wednesday morning the City of Brandon and the Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples' Council signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The MOU establishes the commitment between the two parties to promote aboriginal education, employment, and business inclusion.

Jason Gobeil is the Aboriginal Community Coordinator with the Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples' Council.

“Everything that we've done has gotten us one step closer to getting that community engaged and really taken a broader look at how we, with the City of Brandon, can start putting motions in place,” he said. “Those actions that we see, right there in the Memorandum of Understanding, on improved education, improved labour market participation, and improved availability of business initiatives.”

The Memorandum of Understanding will remain in effect until May of 2018.
