The Christian Heritage School in Brandon is celebrating 42 years of providing Christian education to the families of Brandon and surrounding area. It's location at the far end of 26th Street, nestled in the south side of the city, has been enjoyed by all who attend.

Principal Bryan Schroeder says they are very excited to start the new school year with those returning, as well as welcoming new staff and new students to CHS.  He adds there are 141 students registered for the 2016-2017 school year.

Each September CHS assigns a theme to the next 10 months.   Schroeder explains how this year's theme, “Serve and celebrate the Lord and each other”, encourages us to not only be our best selves, but to also bring out the best in others.

Christian Heritage School is a funded independent school, teaching Christian values together with the  Manitoba School curriculum.  The school is financially supported through tuition, donation and fund-raising efforts, as well as the province of Manitoba.

The fund-raising committee is always at work at CHS, most recently buying snowshoes for the early and middle year students.  Winter sports is a favorite at the school as they have their own outdoor skating rink where shinny and pleasure skating is enjoyed by students as well as by the surrounding community.

Fund-raising efforts this year begins with Farm to School, an incentive program through Peak of the Market where the school retains a portion of funds raised through ordering vegetables.  As well, the Vista program is a 1-for-1 program where patrons can purchase gift cards for  participating stores in Brandon and Winnipeg, and CHS again receives a percentage of sales.

As the doors to the school open on Wednesday, September 7th, staff and students will begin another new school year of learning, sharing and growing together.  Mr. Schroeder adds that he appreciates all the hard work and dedication the CHS staff have shown to make the 42nd year of Christian Heritage School a success.

Welcome night at CHS will be held Thursday evening, September 15th.  All families and staff are welcome to attend.
