Members of the Virden-Wallace Fire Department were kept busy answering a couple of calls this past weekend.

The first came in Saturday morning around 5:30. Some historical buildings in the downtown area were destroyed.

After spending the day containing that fire another call came in early Sunday morning.

An abandoned school that was built in 1915 caught fire outside of Virden.

The Manitoba Historical Society says the Two Creeks School hadn't been open since 1966, and it was bought by a private developer.

Wallace District Fire Department chief Brad Yochim says the brick building was levelled and it's unlikely a cause for that fire will ever be determined.
