Arthur-Virden MLA Doyle Piwniuk says the proposed electoral boundary changes will have an impact on his constituency.

The plan would see Arthur-Virden renamed Turtle Mountain and people would see some boundary changes in the north and southeast corners of the existing constituency.

“The plan calls for municipalities like Archie and Miniota to move north to join Riding Mountain and I’d gain places like Killarney-Turtle Mountain and Ninette in the southeast” said Piwniuk.

He says the boundaries commission tries to use population and economic factors in determining the constituency make up.

“People can speak out out either for or against the proposal during public hearing set to take place in September.”
