People looking to come into Canada through the Cartwright border crossing are out of luck, at least for now.

A Canada-U-S border crossing in Manitoba has been partially closed. A spokesperson for the Canada Border Services Agency says the crossing in Cartwright has been closed indefinitely after asbestos was found at the Canadian facility on Friday, August 10.

The closure will only affect northbound traffic heading into Canada from the U-S, while southbound travellers who are leaving the country will not be impacted.

C-B-S-A spokeswoman Jacqui Callin says once a solution has been found, they'll be advising the public about when the crossing will reopen.

The Cartwright border crossing is located on Manitoba Highway 5/North Dakota Highway 4.

For Canada-bound travellers, the CBSA recommends alternate border crossings:

· Boissevain (Manitoba Highway 10): open 24-7
· Lena  (Manitoba Highway 18): open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
· Crystal City (Manitoba Highway 34): open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

A notice will follow once the port has re-opened.
