The judges have arrived in the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton for the annual Communities in Bloom competition.

Mayor Ed Anderson says one of the first places they'll visit is the recycling depot, which usually scores them a lot of points. He notes they will be visiting about 55 locations around town including three or four museums.

Anderson explains what makes Boissevain-Morton a contender year after year.

“There's just a tremendous amount of pride in our community,” he said. “We go to the school and talk to the children there, the younger grades, and this spring we had about 155 from grade 1 to 6 that toured around town with garbage bags and picked up any garbage that they saw. I think that's really good training for the kids.”

Anderson says that Boissevain has been part of the Communities in Bloom competition for over 20 years, and have won the Grand Champions category several times.

This year Boissevain-Morton will be up against Barrie, Ontario and Strathcona County, Alberta.
