A fire in Binscarth on Tuesday forced the evacuation of a school.
Prairie Mountain RCMP responded to a house fire on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 4:00 pm, Russell, Roblin and Rossburn RCMP responded to a house fire in Binscarth. When officers arrived on scene, the house was fully engulfed. Local fire departments were there battling the blaze. The fire was out at approximately 6:30 pm.

Nobody was in the house at the time. There were no injuries.

Due to the strong north winds, RCMP contacted school officials as the school is one block away from the fire. The school was evacuated and all evening activities cancelled. Neighbouring residences were also evacuated until the fire was brought under control. No other properties sustained any damages.

The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious at this time.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
