Nominee for YWCA Lifetime Achievement Award, Barbara McNish, has been employed at Samaritan House Ministries for the past 18 years as coordinator and adult counsellor at Mary’s House, which provides safe housing units for women and their children who have been victims of domestic violence.

McNish says being nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award by her executive director of Samaritan House, Thea Dennis, was both exciting and very humbling.

Barbara brings years of expertise to her position at the women’s shelter and has been published twice in the Brandon University Journal of Education for her development of curriculum for the group work she provides at Mary’s House.

The native from Ninette has contributed thousands of hours in volunteer time for those in need, and is pursuing her Masters of Counselling Degree at Brandon University.
