The Association of Manitoba Municipalities expects federal infrastructure dollars will continue to flow under the new Liberal federal government. AMM President Chris Goertzen, also the Mayor of Steinbach, says all of the parties made commitments to do so during the election campaign. He adds federal politicians clearly understand the huge infrastructure deficit across Canada.

"Municipalities had a clear ask for all parties who were running in the election and that was to see additional funds for infrastructure for municipalities. Municipalities have a huge infrastructure deficit where there are many municipalities who cannot do some basic services or fix basic streets, roads and sewers and we're pleased that all parties not only talked about it but made commitments on additional infrastructure money. So we look forward to holding the new government accountable for what is said and we hope we can continue to build our communities stronger and invest in infrastructure even more in the coming years."

Goertzen says he looks forward to seeing what transpires in this regard in the coming months.
