Over 65,000 books of multiple genres can be found at the 29th edition of the Brandon Rotary Club's book sale fundraiser taking place this week, says club member Don Partrick.

The three-day sale will start Thursday morning and will be held in the Grand Salon at the Victoria Inn in Brandon.

The club organizes one book sale in spring and another in fall, and Partrick said it is growing in popularity as the years progress.

"We all think the written word is getting less and less, and it might well be, but in our case our last three biggest book sales in terms of sales were the highest right from when we started," he said.

The book sale will run Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Partrick said the Rotary Club of Brandon was chartered in 1921, and is part of Rotary International -- the oldest service organization in the world. There are approximately 1.2-million members and over 35,000 clubs across the globe.

Rotary International clubs aim to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene, and support education with a focus on literacy.
