The Southwest Cougars are planning to celebrate 30 years of triple a midget hockey in Western Manitoba.

On December 21st the team will hold a special celebration in Deloraine when the Cougars host the Pembina Valley Hawks.

“The first Southwest Cougar team was based out of Deloraine and we have invited back all the former players and coaches from that first team” said present day manager Liza Park.

Park says they will have a special program listing the original coaches and players. “We have players from communities across Southwestern Manitoba that played on the team 30 years ago.”

They also plan to recognize the Deloraine players and coaches including Brian Franklin, Clark Tweed, Den Olishefski.

“We hope to see lots of people out for Wednesday's game and it starts at 7:30.”
