The Westman Magic is excited for an opportunity to compete at the 2016 U14 Canadian Girls Fast Pitch Jamboree.

The National Championship which will be hosted by the Smitty's Terminators will be held at John Blumberg Softball Complex.

"The girls are pretty excited," said manager Kevin McLennan.  "We are going in with no expectations and just go have some fun and enjoy the opportunity."

The Magic, based out of Brandon, play in a super league against teams from Winnipeg, Carman, Steinbach and other Manitoba regions.

"This season we did not come out strong.  We actually only won two games all season in our regular league. Then we come to provincials and we had to win the last two games to qualify. We ended up coming up with two wins to pull it out.  We beat Eastman and the Angels to win the two games we needed to get the spot."

19 teams from British Columbia all the way to Prince Edward Island will be competing for the prize.

The Magic will play the Napanee Express, Carman's Central Energy, Tavistock Black and the Lumsden Cubs.

McLennan shared a big focus point for his club heading into Nationals.

"A big thing for us is improving, every day we are improving a little bit more. Every game we play we seem to pick up something and work at it.  It's been a good learning curve for us, we have a pretty young team.  I think right now we are playing the best ball we've played all year.  Hopefully that comes across at Canadians."

McLennan stated what the biggest key to the teams success would be.

"It will come down to whether our pitching can handle it or hold up to the teams we are playing.  Every teams will be able to hit so it will be a matter of if our pitching can keep up with the hitters."

The U14 Canadian Girls Fast Pitch Jamboree will be held August 17th to 21st in Winnipeg.
