The Winnipeg Jets four-game winning streak at MTS Centre is over.

Chicago captain Jonathan Toews scored with 31 seconds left as the Blackhawks defeated the Jets 4-3 Sunday night.

The Winnipeg native deflected Niklas Hjalmarsson's point shot past Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec.

"It was big considering the difference it makes," Toews said. "Getting two points instead of just one more than them. It was a big game for both teams, so it was nice to scrape our way back into that one, and find a way to win at the end there.  I think we did a lot of good things, and we made a few mistakes that ended up in the back of our net.  But for the most part, we didn’t give up much. So I think all four lines brought a lot tonight."

Andrew Shaw, Brad Richards and Patrick Sharp also scored for the Blackhawks who moved one point ahead of the Minnesota Wild and back into third place in the NHL's Central Division.

Dustin Byfuglien had a pair of power play goals for Winnipeg.

Blake Wheeler's second period shorthanded goal was his 25th of the season for the Jets.

"I was pretty happy with our game, and the way we played," said Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd. "I thought we did a lot of the things that we wanted to do.  Had chances, and had the lead.  I think we had pressure and we did a lot of good things. It’s tough obviously giving that one up late."

The Jets (39-25-12), who will host the N.Y. Rangers on Tuesday, still own the second wildcard in the Western Conference.

Winnipeg is two points ahead of Los Angeles.

The Kings, who have a game in hand on the Jets, will play in Chicago tonight.
