Training camp is over and now Winnipeg head coach Mike O'Shea and his staff have a number of decisions to make.

The Blue Bombers and Edmonton Eskimos played to a 38-38 tie Thursday night at Investors Group Field in the final exhibition game for both teams.

Zach Kline, who is battling for the third quarterback spot on the Eskimos depth chart, rallied Edmonton from a 14-point deficit in the final minute of the fourth quarter.

Running back Marion Grice had a one-yard touchdown run with 59 seconds remaining.

The Eskimos recovered the onside kick and Kline hooked up with Josh Harrison for a 22-yard major with nine seconds left.

Grice then ran the ball in for the two-point convert.

"I thought we started a little slow and I thought we didn't finish strong enough obviously," said coach O'Shea. "That's how you end up in a tie when you have a 14-point lead a couple of times in the game. The number of penalties we had certainly limits your chances to win. I thought all three quarterbacks moved the ball well and played extremely well. There were some guys that rose to the occassion and certainly shone with their abilities. There's going to be lots of tough decisions to make obviously but the bottom line is nobody likes a tie."

Matt Nichols played the first half and threw a pair of late second quarter touchdown passes to Clarence Denmark and Darvin Adams.

Dominque Davis replaced Nichols in the third quarter and threw the pass of the night.

That was a 60-yard bomb to L'Damian Washington.

Two plays later Davis scampered in from seven yards out to give the Bombers their first lead of the game.

Dan Lefevour took over from Davis and ran in from three yards out 90 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Davis was asked if he felt his 15 minutes of work cemented his role as the backup to Nichols.

"That's up to the coaches," replied Davis. "They always tell us, 'They don't determine the depth chart, we do.' I felt like I did a pretty good job and now it's in their hands."

Andrew Harris and Timothy Flanders combined for just over 100 yards on the ground.

Penalties were an issue for both teams.

Winnipeg was flagged 16 times for 205 yards while Edmonton had 18 penalties for 193 yards.

Saturday is cutdown day in the CFL.

The Bombers have to declare their 46-player roster plus practice roster spots and those on injured lists by 10 a.m.

"You got to come in here and earn a spot," said Denmark who is no stranger to cutdown day. "Nobody is really safe. You never know what's going to happen. You can only do what you control. Just go out there and play. When get a chance to make a play - make it."

When the 2017 CFL season begins, Winnipeg has the week one bye.

The Blue Bombers will play game one on Canada Day in Regina against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The home opener is Friday, July 7th against the Calgary Stampeders.
