Mike McEwen of Fort Rouge, Alex Forrest of East St. Paul, William Lyburn of the Granite and defending champion Reid Carruthers of West St. Paul will play in the “A” side semifinals of the Playoff Round at the 2016 Viterra Provincial Men's Curling Championship at the Selkirk Recreation Complex.

McEwen got off to a quick start thanks to deuces in the second, third and fifth ends and beat Canadian Junior Champion Matt Dunstone of the Granite 7-2.

Forrest picked up three in the fourth end and four more in the sixth en route to a 9-4 victory over Scott Ramsay of the Thistle.

Lyburn got five in the fourth end and defeated Dennis Bohn of Assiniboine Memorial

Carruthers, who lost 9-7 to Ramsay in the “B” side qualifier and then beat Hayden Forrester of Fort Rouge 6-5 in a “B” side qualifier, got single points in the first three ends and downed Daley Peters of East St. Paul 7-2.

The “A” side semifinals at 9 a.m. feature McEwen against Lyburn and Carruthers will take on Forrest.

Dunstone will face Bohn and Peters will meet Ramsay in the first round of “B” side games.
