The Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame's 20th Induction Dinner took place Saturday at the home of the Hall of Fame's museum – the Access Event Center in Morden.

Ross Tycoles, who has been a player, coach and builder in southwest Manitoba for over 40 years was added to the Hall of Fame.

“It's really special,” said Tycoles. “I spent a lot of time with ball and I loved it. Never done it with any expectancy but it's great to be with a bunch of good people in the Hall of Fame.”

Also added to Hall of Fame were umpires Larry Nicholls and Glen Johnson along with players Rod Leduchowski, Gerald Palidwor, Mel Stoughton, Jeff Trager, Myles Bond, Mike Krykewich and Jamie Waddell-Hodgson.

“There are no words really to describe it,” said Waddell-Hodgson who played with his hometown Brandon Cloverleafs from 1988-2010 and won three batting titles and two home run crowns. “I've been here a few times with different teams and it really hasn't sunk in until you see the big crowd and all the players and all the past coaches and umpires that you played the game with.”

The three teams that were inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame were the Waskada Orioles who dominated the South West Baseball League from 1984-1989; the 2000-2005 Elmwood Giants who captured a pair of Western Canada Senior “AA” championships and the 2006-2011 Wawanesa Brewers.

“We had a good run for those five or six years,” said Brewers coach Ron Seafoot who watched his ball clubs win four league pennants and two Provincial Senior “AA” titles. “They were a totally dedicated group. We had some new players come in and out but they all bought in to how it was going to be run. We had no complaints. They accepted their roles and we just went with it that way.”

The board of directors of the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame also recognized our province's 20th Century All-Star Team which included Almer McKerlie (c), Cliff Seafoot (c), Bill Carpenter (1st base), Lloyd Brown (2nd base), Bill Siddall (ss), Ian Lowe (3rd base), Gerry MacKay (of), Ken Little (of), Mark Fisher (of), Gord Ledohowski (of), Glennis Scott (rhp), Don Rettie (rhp), Gerry Falk (lhp), Orville Minish (lfp), Shane Moffatt (utility), Corey Koskie (dh) & Terry Hind (mgr).
