Stonewall claimed victory at the Provincial High School Championship in Winkler this Saturday. The Rams outscored Portage Collegiate 12-8 in the final, ending the Saints' three-year run as provincial champions.

"This has been a process of about four years we've been together with all these (players) and they've been working their butts off to win this and finally come through this year," said coach Dennis Woods. "For the fact that we can't really be together all the time as a team because they're club teams, they've accomplished wonderful things this year."

The biggest focus of this game was strengthening their defense, Woods said.

The Miller Aces of Altona beat Major Pratt of Russell 13-3 in the third place game.

The Boissevain Broncos dropped a 2-1 decision to Stonewall in the quarterfinals.
