The Winnipeg Jets season came to an end Wednesday night at MTS Centre.

Ryan Kesler scored a pair of third period goals as Anaheim downed Winnipeg 5-2.

Emerson Etem, Andrew Cogliano and Sami Vatanen into an empty net also scored for the Ducks who swept the best-of-seven opening round series in four straight.

Anaheim moves on to the NHL's Western Conference semifinals.

Bryan Little and Mark Stuart did the goal scoring for the Jets.

"They played a very good game, another close game," said Winnipeg goaltender Ondrej Pavelec who stopped 30 shots the game four loss to the Ducks who finished in first place in the Western Conference. "We made some mistakes, but, it’s hard to say some things.  It’s a disappointing, disappointing loss. We lost the series four-nothing. There’s not much to say. I think, we played a really good game. Four-nothing seems a little bad, but I think we deserve the credit too. I mean we played against a really good team. That’s a team that can win the cup, and we battled so hard against them, but it ends up four-nothing."

The Jets are now 0-8 in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Atlanta Thrashers were swept by the New York Rangers in 2007.

"You’re not going to get that on a regular season game, but we get it better than anybody else," said Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice of the fan support the hockey team received in games three & four at MTS Centre with the return of the whiteout. "I do believe, and I’ll say this as much just from people that I talk to on the street, people that will come up to you and talk about your hockey team — that they did appreciate the effort. We’re going to try and make things better next year beyond our effort. But there was an appreciation there, the fans showed it, the playoffs. I’d like to have them cheering at the end of the game for a different reason, but we weren’t able to that. That was special, the players appreciate it — they appreciated it in game one.  Just the number of unsolicited comments by the players today about how great that was. I certainly appreciated the end of the game, it wasn’t the result we wanted. It wasn’t the series that we wanted to give our fans, but I thought it was great."
