The Winnipeg Jets 10-game homestand ended with a loss.

Dustin Brown and Torrey Mitchell scored in the third period as the Los Angeles Kings defeated Winnipeg 4-3 Tuesday night at Bell MTS Place.

Alec Martinez and Dion Phaneuf also scored for the Kings who received a 30-save performance from Darcy Kuemper.

Los Angeles captain Anze Kopitar recorded his 800th career NHL point as he drew an assist on Brown's 15th goal of the season which gave the Kings a 4-2 lead with 4:06 left in regulation.

Blake Wheeler, Dustin Byfuglien and Patrik Laine replied for the Jets who were 6-3-1 on the homestand.

Laine scored with 49 seconds left in regulation to get Winnipeg within a goal but the Jets couldn't get the equalizer past Kuemper.

"I thought at times we were good," said Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck who made 28 saves. "That's a good team over there and we've got to give them credit."

The Jets (35-16-9) will play road games against the St. Louis Blues on Friday and the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
