Cam Talbot made 31 saves as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-0.

Just over 33,000 hockey fans took in the Heritage Classic Sunday at Investors Group Field.

Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice says it was a memorable week.

"I have a picture in my head of yesterday’s (alumni) game and the ‘True North’ chant that came during the national anthem," said Maurice. "I happened to be standing behind Mark Chipman who was standing down two or three rows taking it all in.  What I remember the most is wondering in my own head if he understands, and I’m sure he does, but he’s such a humble man I don’t know that he does, the impact he had on a community.  I wondered if in the inaugural game of the Manitoba Moose years ago if he knew that hard work would come to this in a really short period of time.  I’m just really proud to be here."

The Oilers got goals from Mark Letestu, Darnell Nurse and Zach Kassian during an eight minute span of the second period.

"In the first we were successful," said Winnipeg forward Mark Scheifele. "We got pucks behind them, we were getting pucks to the net, we were creating rebounds.  It developed a lot of scoring chances for us.  In the second we got away from it.  We started to try to make plays.  We tried to make plays through people in the neutral zone and they made us pay for it."

The Jets went 0-for-4 with the manadvantage on Sunday and are 2-for-20 on the season.

Winnipeg's next game is Tuesday against the Stars in Dallas.
