The Killarney Shamrocks are one win away from repeating as Tiger Hills Hockey League champions.

Ryan Howatt scored three times as Killarney downed the Plainsmen 5-2 Wednesday night in Carberry and now lead the best-of-five final two games to none.  

The home team enjoyed a 1-0 lead after the first period.Dustin Fisher beat Shamrocks goaltender Brian Archibald 10:42 into the opening frame.

"You realize you're playing on your heels when you get scored on first on the road," Howatt told CJRB's Tyler Addison after game two. "That just shows how are team is. We just battled through it and came out on top."

Howatt scored a pair of goals in the second period.

Carberry's Brett Kitt got the equalizer 5:24 into the third.

Killarney foward Lane Ganske potted the go-ahead goal less than four minutes later.

Howatt and Brayden Cuthbert scored empty net goals in the final minute.

Game three goes Friday night at the Shamrock Centre.

"We got to fight back," said Plainsmen forward Mike Reykdal. "It's do or die now. From here on in it's Friday, Saturday, Sunday. It could be a battle. It could be a long grind. It could be done after Friday but we're not giving up."
