The Winnipeg Jets are heading into the National Hockey League's All-Star break on a winning note.

Nikolaj Ehlers scored three times as Winnipeg defeated the Arizona Coyotes 5-2 Tuesday night at MTS Centre.

"It’s pretty big for us to go into the break with a good note, and know that when we come back there’s going to be work to be done," said Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien who had two goals and an assist.

"We can at least have a bit of a smile on our face, relax, don’t think any hockey for a few days.  Come back fresh, and put our work boots back on."

Blake Wheeler chipped in with three assists.

The newly created line of Ehlers, Wheeler and Mark Scheifele had seven points on the night.

Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves.

Brad Richardson and Anthony Duclair did the goal scoring for the Coyotes who were coming off a 2-1 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul the previous night.

The Jets (22-24-3) first game back from the break will be February 2nd against the Dallas Stars at MTS Centre.
