It was a quiet weekend for Assiniboine Community College Cougar action, with only the woman's hockey team playing on the road Saturday and Sunday. They travelled to Minot, ND to take on Minot State University Lady Beavers Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. and again Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Saturday evening saw the Lady Beavers score early in the first period to lead 1-0. The score remained 1-0 until 11:56 was left in the second period and the Lady Beavers made it 2-0. They scored again with 2:10 left in the game to win 3-0. The Cougars had 33 shots on net.

Sunday’s game remained scoreless in the first period with only 5 shots on net for the Cougars and 6 for the Lady Beavers. Cougars jumped out of the gate in the second period, scoring early to lead 1-0. They held the lead through the second and the beginning of the third period, when the Lady Beavers scored to tie it up 1-1. The game remained tied to the end of regulation time, going into overtime. The Lady Beavers scored in overtime to win the game.

Next weekend the Cougars will have their first home games of the season on Saturday and Sunday. They will play the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at the Brandon Sportsplex. The puck drops at 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Cougars volleyball teams open their regular season league play in Winnipeg November 10th and 11th.
