The defending South West Baseball League champion Boisssevain Centennials avoided elimination Wednesday night and the Hamiota Red Sox and Wawanesa Brewers are going the distance in their semifinal.

Aaron Pugh and Jay Pringle combined on a six-hitter as the Centennials edged Deloraine 2-1.

That cut the Royals lead in the best-of-five series to two games to one.

Cory Billaney had three hits and scored both Boissevain runs.

Skylar Canada drove in Billaney with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth.

"I just saw a pitch and hit it the other way," said Canada on his timely single.

Mitch Olson took the loss. He went the distance scattering nine hits and struckout six.

"I felt okay," Olson said. "Tried to mix up speeds a little bit because they're a good hitting team. For the most part I thought I was alright. I left a couple of my pitches up in the zone and they made me pay for it."

Game four goes tonight in Deloraine.

"All three games have been one-run games so I expect it to be the same thing," said Centennials manager Jason Billaney. "We have to try and get timely hits and try not to let them have the timely hits."

The Hamiota Red Sox downed the Brewers 8-5 in Wawanesa.

That semifinal is tied at two and the deciding fifth game goes Monday in Hamiota.
