The South East Prairie Thunder are National Senior “AAA” Hockey champions for the second time in four years.

Steve Christie stopped all 27 shots he faced Saturday as the Prairie Thunder blanked the Bentley Generals 2-0 in the final of the 2015 Allan Cup in Clarenville, Newfoundland & Labrador.

Mark Agnew scored a power play goal with 5:19 remaining in the second period and Shawn Limpright added an insurance marker 4:24 into the final frame.

The Thunder were perfect on the east coast.

South East beat the Dundas Real McCoys 4-3 and the Grand Falls-Windsor Cataracts 2-1 in the preliminary round.

The Prairie Thunder then downed the hometown Clarenville Caribous 4-1 in the semifinals.

The Thunder were playing in their third final in team history.

South East lost 4-3 in double overtime to Bentley in the 2009 final in Steinbach and beat the Rosetown Red Wings 4-1 in the 2012 final in Lloydminster.

The Prairie Thunder will host the 2016 Allan Cup in Steinbach.
