The Cougars women's hockey team had their home opener this past weekend against the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Saturday November 4, 8 p.m. at the Sportsplex.  They followed this with a re-match Sunday morning at 10 a.m.

Saturday evening's game saw the Cougars come out on top, winning 5-1.  

The Cougars had big first period with four goals, while the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire had their only goal of the game.  Alyssa Alderson, Rachel Charles, Carlin Hamilton, and Sierra Parenteau scored in the first.

Kenzie Heide scored in the second period, and there were no goals scored in the third.

Sunday morning saw a similar story unfold, with the Cougars winning 5-1.  

Karli Frederick scored twice for the Cougars in the first period, while the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire found their only goal of the game.

The second period saw Carlin Hamilton score twice for the Cougars, and in the third period Karli Frederick scored again for a hat trick.

Next weekend, November 10-12,  the women’s hockey team is hosting their second Can-Am College Cup Tournament at the Sportsplex.  Lakehead University and North Dakota State University will be at the tournament.

The Cougars volleyball teams will be back in action next weekend, opening their regular seasons on the road.  They will take on the Canadian Mennonite University Blazers Friday November 10 and Saturday November 11.  The women play at 6 p.m. on Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday, while the men will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
