It took 28 tries but the Winnipeg Jets have finally won a game this season when they were trailing after forty minutes.

Adam Lowry scored the go-ahead goal with just under 11 minutes remaining as Winnipeg defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 on Saturday night.

Mark Scheifele scored his 22nd goal of the season on the power play to get the Jets on board with 3:31 left in the middle frame.

“It shows us that we stick to our game plan and we don’t try to open anything up,” said Scheifele who extended his point streak to seven games. “Being down a goal, it shows that our game plan works. The way we played in the first two periods even though we were down by one – it works, and that’s the biggest thing.”

Drew Stafford got the tying goal 7:26 into the third period.

Eric Johnson and Matt Duchene scored 1:53 apart in the second period to give the Avalanche a 2-0 lead.

Ondrej Pavelec stopped 35 shots as the Jets (28-35-5) won for just the second time in their past 10 games at MTS Centre.
