The Boissevain/Souris Broncos, Sandy Bay Badgers, Dauphin Clippers and Neepawa Tigers were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League Sunday. Zach Edmunds had a goal and three assists as the Broncos downed Hamiota/Rivers/Elton/Strathclair 7-2. Bobby Orr-Roulette scored the winning goal with 69 seconds left in third period as the Badgers rallied from a 3-1 third period deficit and beat Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn 4-3. Logan Chapman scored twice as the Clippers downed Deloraine/Hartney 5-1 and Tarek Lapointe had a hat trick in the Tigers 7-2 victory over Minnedosa/Erickson.


The Southwest Cougars lost 1-0 to the Winnipeg Wild at Bell MTS Iceplex. Blake Jones scored in the seventh round of the shootout for the Wild. Cougars netminder Owen LaRocque made 35 saves in regulation and overtime.


The Westman Wildcats fell 4-3 in overtime to the Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League leading Winnipeg Avros. Brooklyn Franklin had a pair of goals in regulation for the Wildcats while Callie Rice had the other. Westman goaltender Grace Glover stopped 34 shots.


The Winnipeg Jets eight-game road trip is over. Kasperi Kapanen and Jeff Carter scored nine seconds apart in the third period and Penguins captain Sidney Crosby potted the only goal of the shootout as Pittsburgh beat Winnipeg 3-2. Blake Wheeler and Kyle Connor did the goal scoring in regulation for the Jets who host the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. It will be Winnipeg's first game at Canada Life Centre since a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on December 19th. 


Philippe Desrosiers made 40 saves and Nelson Nogier scored twice as the Manitoba Moose defeated the Chicago Wolves 3-1. Johnathan Kovacevic had the other Moose goal. Manitoba is five points back of the AHL's Central Division leading Wolves.
