Cassie Quadrelli and Caliegh Walker are looking forward to their second year of River Rat Rentals.  The two Souris residents both love the outdoors, and they felt combining their passion for outdoor recreation with their entrepreneur and community building spirit, they would make it available for everyone.   They are both involved in education, and the rec rentals throughout the summer months are the perfect fit for both.

Walker and her family live on the Souris River, so this was the perfect venue to offer water sports, such as kayaking, canoeing, paddleboards, and pedal boats.

"During the winter of 2020 when things were in lockdown [because of Covid], we were talking about different things and we both love outdoor recreation and river activities and so the idea was borne out of that," explains Cassie Quadrelli.  "And then last summer, we said, 'Let's do it!' so we started up and we had an awesome first summer and so we're excited to see what happens this summer and grow our business!"

Cruiser bikes will be added to the list of summer equipment and the plan for winter rentals will include fat bikes and snowshoes.

Quadrelli says they attract both local residents and visitors to Souris.  "We were thrilled.  We had folks coming from all sorts of areas and we were happy with that!  People come and they see how beautiful our park is and we got lots of people out paddling; also local folks who don't want to store gear anymore, or they just don't have the space.  So, it's nice, we're making adventure accessible for all!"

Recreation equipment can be rented by the day or by the hour.
