Premier Brian Pallister today highlighted the likelihood of an incoming federal election and stressed that his province will not be making some of the accommodations they have made in years past.

"I want to be very very clear to the people of Manitoba that should the federal government decide that they want to call an election this spring, Manitoba schools will most certainly not be made available for polling stations.”

Pallister says keeping schools free of non-essential traffic and so protecting them from the COVID-19 virus is of utmost importance to his government, adding he will not endorse any plan that could jeopardize the intended function of the classroom.

“Our public health officials, our educators, our students, and our families have done an incredible job at keeping our schools safe thus far and we want to keep it that way.”

The premier notes his government has prioritized learning in the classroom because that is where kids learn best and says that he will not be sacrificing that value, not even for Elections Canada.
