CROP RESIDUE BURNING AUTHORIZATION (MR 77/93) - November 16, 2021

This is the final message for the 2021 crop year for all of Manitoba.

Nighttime burning of crop residues is banned year-round.

Safe burning practices, including adequate fire-guarding and proper supervision, must be followed.

Smoke from any crop residue fire must NOT obscure any public roadway or create problems for neighboring residents.

If burning does occur, recommended starting times for crop residue burning is 11:00 am with an ending time of 5:00 pm. for the remainder of the fall. Be aware smoke may rise more slowly than expected.

Note that burning in the “Burning Permit Areas” requires a permit issued by Manitoba Conservation and Climate. Permits issued by the City of Winnipeg are required for burning within the boundaries of the City. Any permits issued by other local authorities are also required. Please consult your local RM office for any other restrictions.

Caution is advised when burning crop residues.
