'Westman Disability Day at this year’s Manitoba Summer may turn out to be the best ever!" states the Provincial Exhibition's Thursday Media Release.

'After attracting over 400 to last year’s event, the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba is excited to announce that a record-breaking attendance is expected during this year’s event, to be held on day two of the Fair scheduled for Thursday, June 8th.

According to Manitoba Summer Fair Chair Tim Rowan, over 830 Western Manitobans with physical and intellectual disabilities will attend a barbecue and special access to the Midway, courtesy of both the Brandon and Wheat City Lions Clubs.

“This year’s event will be amazing,” says Rowan. “We are so grateful to the local Lions clubs and participating sponsors for helping to ensure that this special event returns to the Fair in 2023.”

The local service clubs have donated $5,000 to the Exhibition, making it possible to provide tickets and exclusive access to the Midway from 1-3pm, before the gates open to the general public at 4pm.

Following an official cheque presentation Thursday afternoon at the historic Dome Building, Tanya Cameron, President of the Wheat City Lions Club, says that whenever kids and the community is involved, the local Lions Clubs are eager to help out and feel somewhat honoured to serve as the Daily Sponsor.

“This is what Lions and Lions clubs are all about,” says Cameron. “Supporting communities in order to help events like Westman Disability Day for Western Manitoba. We are excited to be sponsoring this great event.”

In addition to providing a day to remember on the midway, Thursday will feature a special barbecue hosted by Heritage Co-op, with donations from various companies such as Maple Leaf, Old Dutch, Pepsi and MNP. Tickets to this year’s Summer Fair are available online at www.provincialexhibition.com or at both Heritage Co-op Food Stores in Brandon and Minnedosa.

As well, children (12 and under) can receive “free” general admission tickets until Tuesday, June 6th online.

This year’s Summer Fair goes from Wednesday, June 7th to Sunday, June 11th and will feature world class entertainment for all ages, a bigger and better Midway, the best in Fair Food, horse and car shows and a whole lot more.'
