After two years off the Boissevain and Area 4-H Rally will return in 2022.

The pandemic kept organizers and clubs from gathering for the annual rally day at the Boissevain Fairgrounds. But with the loosening of restrictions club leaders, parents and members are ready to get back together for the rally.

“We just really made the plan that we are going to go ahead. We made the decision following the communications event held in Boissevain last week” said Coral Meggison Leader with the Goodlands Variety Club.

“We’re going to do some kind of an event but it might be scaled back because of fewer families that what we had two years ago. It’s run by volunteers so we’ll do the best we can. I’m sure we’ll have multi-purpose workshops and an equine show.”

Organizers think the beef club will do some kind of a clinic. “They’ve been doing their beef show in conjunction with the fair over the past few years and I anticipate that’s what will happen again this summer” said Meggison.

A number of clubs from across the Westman region make the trip to Boissevain and Coral Meggison says the call is out for any clubs wanting to take part in the rally.

“Since celebrating 100 years of 4-H back in 2013 organizers have been extending an invite to all clubs in the southwest area. That goes all the way to places like Elkhorn, Rivers, Brandon and Glenboro. Many clubs did participate and since then we’ve put out the invitation.”

Organizers know how unique the Boissevain 4-H Rally is when it comes to the 4-H program. “There isn’t a large multi discipline rally like that happening anywhere in the province. So I anticipate clubs outside of the Boissevain zone will come to the fairground this June” said Coral Meggison.

The Boissevain and Area 4-H Rally will take place June 3rd.
