Water management was a key topic discussed Wednesday at Keystone Agricultural Producers' Summer General Council Meeting in Brandon.

The group got an update on the Assiniboine River Basin Initiative (ARBI), which became official on July 1, 2015.

KAP President Dan Mazier, who also serves as ARBI's vice-president, says the biggest challenge is dealing with cross border issues.

“The problem isn't with the United States and working with that international boundry, it's the inter-provincial boundry that seems to be more of a challenge,” he said.

Mazier added they have been receiving support from the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS).

A sustainable funding model for ARBI was also discussed at the meeting.

KAP members also welcomed back former president Doug Chorney, who gave an update on the province's Agricultural Risk Management Task Force.
