Starting in the New Year, Small Farms Manitoba will fall under the direction of Direct Farm Manitoba.

Direct Farm Manitoba is a new association that recently grew out of the Farmer’s Market Association of Manitoba (FMAM).

Kalynn Spain founded Small Farms Manitoba back in 2013.

"This conversation has been going on for at least a year or so between myself and the board of directors," she said. "In March, the AGM brought in a new board of directors, as well as a new membership category. FMAM, which was representing farmer's markets across Manitoba only had markets as its members. Now with adding a new membership category, which would be all direct marketers across Manitoba."

Small Farms Manitoba is a directory that now includes about 140 farmers as well as about a dozen farmer's markets.

The annual Small Farms Conference will now be called the Direct Farm Conference, taking place January 21st in Winnipeg.
