The Chief Veterinarian's Office has confirmed second case of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv) in Manitoba.

This case, detected in a finisher barn in southeastern Manitoba, comes a week after the hog virus was also found in a batch-farrow sow barn in the southeastern region.

These two cases are the first in Manitoba since January 2015, and both instances come within about a month of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's change in truck washing regulations at the U.S. border.

Manitoba Pork says both producers are cooperating and have implemented control measures. An epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
