The president of the Flax Council of Canada says there is a need to become more engaged with companies involved in the industrial market.

Don Kerr made the comment last week in Winnipeg at the Canadian Global Crops Symposium.

He also talked about the need to broaden export markets for flax.

"We've got some pretty aggressive agronomic goals that we set out and those agronomic goals, if we can accomplish them and we hope that we can, could increase our production over the next 10 years. If we don't see that growth at home in terms of additional consumptive demand, it's going to be in markets that we ship flax to now like the US, Europe, and China and maybe new markets like India that we're looking at."

The feed market is another market that Kerr would like to see become a priority.
