A Manitoba MP is looking for federal dollars to help support the effort to bring a soybean crushing plant to western Manitoba.

Conservative Larry Maguire, who represents Brandon-Souris, believes the project could be supported through the Invest Canada-Community Initiatives Program.

"It's a program that allows government to help fund the business plans once the site has been chosen, successful candidates have been chosen," he said. "There's a lot of work that needs to be done, this Westman Opportunities Leadership Group has already done a lot of work on that."

Maguire says the project is gaining a lot of momentum, as municipal leaders, farmers, and Brandon university have all thrown their support behind the project.

The Dennis County Development Partnership is the latest group to join the effort.
