The weather and crop specialist with CWB says parts of the prairies could use more rain, especially in the western regions.

Bruce Burnett says there has been some significant damage done to yield potential in some areas.

He notes the area with the best moisture is southern Manitoba.

"In some areas, especially south-central areas of the province into some parts of the southeast, probably we would like to see a break here in some of the rainfall that we've been getting. There are some fields that are getting close to being waterlogged, so it would be nice to see warmer, drier conditions for at least a little while in parts of Manitoba."

Burnett adds there are parts of Manitoba where crop development is well ahead compared to the last few years.

He notes other parts of the prairies are normal or behind due to drought, frost, and generally cooler conditions.
