Manitoba's Agriculture, Food, and Rural Development Minister says he looks forward to working with whoever is Canada's next ag minister.

It's been almost 10 years since Canada had a Liberal government, but Ron Kostyshyn says there's been a lot of change in agriculture since then. He says the key to moving forward with the new Liberal government is to have transparent consultation between provincial and federal ministers.

"It's a matter of having some communication," he says, "obviously in the agriculture industry, things change on an annual basis, not only in 10 years... We've got a number programs that I think we need to have some clarity and understanding, but whether to make a decision on what happened 10 years ago, will that change anything? I think every year is different and I look forward to meeting the new agriculture minister."

Kostyshyn says a priority in talks with federal government is ag insurance and business risk management programs, which he thinks need to be maintained, if not enhanced.
