On Tuesday, a group of Manitoba community leaders will trade in their business atire for flight suits and travel to a mystery island.

The twist — the participants won't be allowed off the island until they reach their fundraising goal. It's all a part of STARS Foundation's CEO Rescue on the Island fundraiser.

Gene Fraser, MacDon's vice president of global sales and marketing, is taking part, with a fundraising goal of $50,000. He says he wanted to take part because STARS is critical to many rural and farming communities, and because he's personally felt the impact of STARS Air Ambulance.

"My dad actually flew on a STARS helicopter many years ago in the province of Nova Scotia for a medical emergency, so I think, from that stand point, I heard his story about it, and I think from my persceptive, that's why it's really critical for me to support something like this," Fraser says.

Participants will be allowed to bring a cell phone to make calls for donations. More than $500,000 has been raised for STARS over the past two Rescue on the Island Fundraisers. Donations for this year can be made on the STARS Foundation website.

Other participants this year include:
-Chris Goertzen, mayor of Steinbach
-Colin Penner, farm management instructor
-Jason Dubois, president Len Dubois Trucking Inc.
-Rod Hill, ex-Winnipeg Blue Bomber
-Jessica Dumas, chair of Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce
-Nicole Chabot, vice president of L. Chabot Enterprises Ltd.
