On Monday, the World Trade Organization (WTO) is expected to release its verdict on the Country of Origin Labelling (COOL) appeal launched by the US earlier this year.

The Americans are disputing the WTO ruling last fall that went in favour of Canada and Mexico.

Manitoba Agriculture Minister Ron Kostyshyn says it's time to move on from this dispute.

"In my time of being on some trade missions down south, we heard loud and clear from the processors in the US side where COOL definitely was challenging their processing industry and I think we'll welcome hopefully the positive news that the COOL has an opportunity to move away and provide opportunities for everybody that's involved in the industry, whether its pork or beef."

Canada has threatened to impose retaliatory tariffs on the US if the Americans do not comply with the WTO ruling.
