Winkler will be the host community for this year's Manitoba Farm Women's Conference. The 29th annual gathering will take place November 15-17 at the Days Inn.

The event features a mix of information and entertainment for women who are involved in the agriculture industry.

Chair Cindy Klassen explains the purpose behind the conference.

"It would be about educating women, encouraging them, having them network together among their peers," she said. "Just maybe giving them some time out to themselves, that they truly deserve."

This year's keynote speaker will be Carol Ann Fried of Friedom Training and Coaching Services. Other featured presenters include journalist Laura Rance, curler Jill Officer, Marina James -- President & CEO of Economic Development Winnipeg, and Marla Reikman with Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development.

Klassen notes the conference is a great chance for farm women to reunite after a busy a year.

"I think quite often, actually, farm women feel quite alone because we spend a lot of evenings by ourselves, days by ourselves," she said. "We go to weddings, funerals, everything by ourselves, for the most part, because our husbands are busy working. It's nice knowing that there's a group of women out there who get it, who truly understand each other."

This year's event will also focus on 2015 as being the International Year of Soils.

The deadline to register for the 2015 Manitoba Farm Women's Conference is Thursday, November 5.
