Statistics Canada is showing farm cash receipts for Canadian farmers totalled $14.8 billion in the first quarter of 2015, up 4.5 per cent from the same quarter last year.

Six provinces, including Manitoba saw an increase in farm cash receipts, which include crop and livestock revenues in addition to program payments.

Livestock receipts were up in all provinces, increasing by a total of $483 million to $6.3 billion, while crop receipts stayed level at $7.9 billion.

In the supply-managed sectors, farm cash receipts increased 2 per cent in the first quarter of 2015 due to increased poultry, dairy and egg marketings.
