A contest launched by Cargill is giving six community organizations across the country the chance to win $25,000.

The Together We Thrive contest is being put on in celebration of the Cargill's 150th anniversary.

"Canada’s rural communities are a big part of Cargill’s heritage," says Jeff Vassart, President and Business Unit Leader, Cargill Limited. "There are countless organizations that make our communities wonderful places to live and work, and we want to support them."

Vassart notes the winning organizations will share Cargill's core values in relation to food security and nutrition, education, and environmental stewardship.

"We are looking forward to learning about all the great charitable work that is going on in the communities we serve," says Vassart. "This is one contest in which everyone can participate - whether you are nominating an organization or voting for a cause that is meaningful to you. Help us invest this money where it’s needed most."

Nominations will be accepted until June 30th and can be submitted online at togetherwethrive.ca.

Winners will be announced in August 2015.
