Cash and cattle donations are being accepted for the third annual charity auction in support of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB).

The event takes place Saturday, November 28 starting at noon at the Grunthal Livestock Auction Mart.

Charles Wiens, chair of the Cattle Auction Committee, explains where the money raised will be going.

"We don't have a specific project that it will go to but I can say that Canadian Foodgrains Bank has been working with the Syrian refugee crisis since 2011 and another one of many projects that they're working on is also the Ethiopian drought."

Wiens says they raised a total of about $37,000 over the first two years of the auction.

Farmers looking to donate an animal can call the Grunthal Livestock Auction Mart at 204-434-6519. For local pickup, Southeast Livestock has also offered its services by calling 204-392-3045.

Monetary donations will also be accepted at the auction.

Charitable tax receipts will be issued for cattle and cash donations.
